Fun at the Whistle-Stop Barbecue Festival!

This year's Whistle-Stop Barbecue Festival was fun. I love great barbecue and different grills and smokers in a parade almost made me want to buy one and the barbecue circuit. Some were painted black, some all stainless steel and there was one that looked like a large egg wheels that was painted blue.

One thing all these fantastic grills had in common was that all cooks use wood or charcoal for cook your meat! None of the Sissy electric grills or gas grills are allowed this power. These were real men and women who traveled the country with their flesh pots hooked behind their trucks. I bet that their ancestors worked the livestock units on the old Chisholm Trail in the west and cooked their meals on a stove buffalo chips built with age.

I had visions of entering into a cook-off after another until I found the amount of the costs of steel monsters! Most of these began as low as $ 5000 and up from there! Way Up! That does not take into account the vehicles needed to transport one of these grills throughout the country, color coordinated and everything!

Grills of all sizes and description lined the stimulus line of N & L Railroad tracks in the downtown Huntsville, Alabama. This area is designated as a historic site and was home to some of the finest roasters of creation. It almost makes me mouth water In view of all unusual grills and smokers, not to mention the wonderful aromas of the four categories to be judged, barbecued ribs, chicken, pork and brisket, that is sizzling in its own juice.

There were competitors from Texas, Tennessee, California and North Carolina, plus eleven other states. These were people who still BBQ tour, accumulating points to be considered for the national title later this year.

For Back yard cooks, like me, had a "backyard back "division consists of fans who love to cook meat outdoors. I did not enter this year, because even non-professional level, you need much preparation to get ready for this event and am by nature a lazy man, not given to anything that seems too work.

Since most of these professional barbecue chefs came from other states, had the "big trucks" of the roasts. There was one that was so beautiful that almost fill with tears their eyes.

There before me was a huge 12 foot long black grill shaped like a propane tank, resting on a bed of black steel mesh with a double axel trailer that had chrome fender wells. There were two chrome pipes, possibly stolen from a Mack truck Peterbilt or adorning both sides of the grill itself. It was a wonderful spectacle to see the clouds of smoke boiling walnut four fireplaces as his truck owner started the record in the hole.

All indicators, handles and trim work were polished chrome, matching chimneys and wheel wells of the trailer, which perfectly matched the great black, double wheel truck carrying several competitions throughout the country. The shiny chrome accessories instead of what really sold me on this computer.

All around I barbecue grills and smokers were developed that had to have cost its owners a lot of money. A toy that caught my attention was a cottage real wood built into a trailer with a grill at the end of the porch. The cabin itself was a place where barbecue condiments are sold. Virtually all bidders had their own spices to make sauces or rubs his grill, making each stand a little more special than the last.

Some of the towers had barbecue sponsors for their barbecue stoves roaming banners displayed in general or even painted on trucks and trailers. No known logos of some of the outdoor business best known, best-selling history of charcoal thing for camping equipment.

At day's end I had seen enough to know that I probably will join the geniuses of the barbecue on the road to the next competition. I left the Cook-Off with BBQ smell of snuff and his belly full of satisfaction.
